All my life, I have adored thrifting. There is so much waste in the world, that when you get a sweet hand me down, celebrate it! You get to wear something cool that likely no one else has and that is doing a little bit of good for the world- re-using. On a daily basis, at least one or two things from my outfit is vintage or thrifted, but today is a whole nother story- I’m head-to-skirt in hand-me-downs.

Lets start from the top. The jacket was a cast off from the costume pile back in 2003 when I was in a production of Fame. I took it for my costume box when no one else wanted it. Last year, I rediscovered it in all its denim glory and have been rocking it since. The shirt was part of my hubby’s elf costume this Halloween. Nothing says chic like an H&M XL mens long sleeve tee cast off. The skirt was a backpacking swap I got from a friend while in Thailand. After a while, a backpack clean out and clothing swap is necessary after wearing the same crap for 3 months and very few showers. My Hugo Boss watch was found when cleaning out my old boss’s office. Appearing as if its circa 1960 I drooled over it until my boss gave it up. I made my friendship bracelets and all the other jewelry I’m wearing was a gift. Only thing new is my fave blue wedges which were a gift from Dad. In short this outfit cost me a whole lotta $0. Feels so good.

Lately, I’ve been feeling a little bit like I do so many things, people are a bit confused about what I do and what I am all about. Some of you may have found me through my youtube covers, some through my wedding and styling work, and some because you are my nearest and dearest. In the past, I’ve been worried about letting all my worlds collide, fearing that it will complicate things, but I’ve recently come to the conclusion that people and life are complicated, and that’s what keeps it interesting. Since spring is a symbol of new beginnings, I’ll be taking a new perspective on how I share things. It may gain me some lovers and likely some facebook “unlikers” but I’m willing to take that risk.

In a nutshell, my life consists of 4 main things.
1) I make music! I sing covers and have released two albums, Find the Words and Something Wild available on iTunes and through my website.
2) I plan and style weddings and events with my company Love By Lynzie and adore the creative possibilities this brings.
3) I run an entertainment company called Electric Blonde Entertainment that has boundless opportunities for event spectacles.
4) I am a bridal stylist at Ginger’s Closet- the GTA’s first luxury consignment and sample bridal boutique.

In short, I am a very busy gal. I’m constantly running to shoots, working with brides, singing non-stop, crafting and scheming. On top of all this, my handsome hubby and I are currently renovating our dream home alongside our amazing little pooch Gizmo. I’ll be sharing more of these adventures with you and hope that you learn as much about me as I learn about myself.

I’ve decided to enter the Coke Covers 2012 contest this year with my acoustic cover of Carly Rae Jepsen’s Call Me Maybe. On this cover, I played Ukulele and Glockenspiel. For percussion, I snapped and clapped my little heart out. I sang two part harmony on the choruses for back ups and generally enjoyed myself the whole time in leopard print pants. What a monday afternoon. I hope you like it. Stay tuned for how you can vote and help me get into the top ten.

Ok so two quick things today. This Friday March 16th, my song “Dreamer” will be heard on a new episode of Degrassi! The other super exciting thing is that I will be playing a Canadian Music Week (CMW) showcase on March 21st. This is the first time I have played CMW as a solo artist so I’m pretty excited about that. I have applied for this festival 6 years in a row! So something finally had to give! My time slot is Wednesday March 21st at 1am at C’est What in Toronto. I’ll be playing with a full band and we’ll be doing lots of songs off my new album “Something Wild“.
